The privacy of your data is paramount to us. We recognize that our customers, visitors, and users want to know what information we collect and how we use it. This policy covers the Fabman websites, Fabman hardware ("Bridges"), and other Fabman services (collectively "Services").

We’ve worked hard to make this Privacy Policy clear, concicse, and understandable. If there’s anything you don’t understand or think we could describe better, let us know.

1. Information you provide

When you sign up as a customer

When you sign up for Fabman, we ask for your name, company name, and email address. That’s just so you can personalize your new account and we can send you invoices, updates, or other essential information. We’ll never sell your personal info to third parties, and we won’t use your name or company in marketing statements without your permission, either.

We’ll only ever access your account to help you with a problem or squash a software bug. We’ll never open any uploaded files unless you ask us to.

When you submit any information about your members (eg., their name, email address, or keycard ID) to us, it’s stored by Fabman in your account and not forwarded to any other parties. You can update, delete, or correct this data at any time via the admin interface.

The keycard IDs of all your admins are also stored on every Fabman Bridge you connect to your account. This allows admins to turn on any Bridge even if it can’t contact our servers at that time.

When you sign up as a user of a customer

When a Fabman customer invites you to create a user for the Fabman Services, we require no additional personal information, but you may use the Fabman Services to provide additional information to the customer that invited you. Any information you provide is stored in the customer’s account. Please contact the customer that invited you to update, delete, or correct this data.

Payment information

If you pay for Fabman by credit card or SEPA debit, your payment information—together with your company name and address—is processed by a PCI-compliant network.

If you use Fabman’s payment functionality to manage your members’ payment information or collect payments, then this data—together with the member’s name and member number—is also processed by a PCI-compliant network.

Under no circumstances does Fabman receive, process, or store payment information (such as credit card or bank account numbers) directly.

Help and support

When you write Fabman with a question or to ask for help, we’ll keep that correspondence, and the email address, for future reference.

Community forum

Our website offers a publicly accessible forum. If you sign up for our forum, you should be aware that any information you provide on the forum - including profile information associated with the account you use to post the information - may be read, collected, and used by any member of the public who accesses these websites.

Your posts and certain profile information may remain even after you terminate your account. We urge you to consider the sensitivity of any information you input into these services. To request removal of your information from the forum, please contact us.

2. Information we collect

Tracking

When you browse our public marketing pages, we’ll track that for statistical purposes (like conversion rates and to test new designs) using Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel and Hotjar. These services may collect information sent by your Internet browser such as "cookies", your IP request, or your screen resolution. They may also collect information about how you use our marketing pages, eg., where you click or scroll.

Google’s use of this data is governed by the Google Analytics Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Facebook’s use of this data is governed by the Facebook Business Tools Terms of Service and your Facebook ad settings. Hotjar’s use of this data is governed by their Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

If you don't want us to track you on the public marketing website, please disable third-party cookies for this website and enable "Do Not Track" in your browser’s settings. You can also disable tracking by simply clicking here.

We never track your behavior past the marketing and signup websites (i.e., after you’ve logged in to your account at https://fabman.io/login). We don’t use any 3rd party tracking or analytics software as part of the admin interface or member portal. Your and your users’ behavior and data is none of our concern and we try to minimize what we need to access.

If we send you emails, we may keep track of your interaction with the links in these emails in order to improve the Fabman Services.

Bridge data

Fabman Bridges record member activity information such as when a member switched on equipment and when they stopped using it. This information is only stored on our servers—not on the Bridge hardware—and you can see it via your Fabman admin interface. You can specify how long Fabman will store this activity information and we’ll automatically delete any information that’s older than the maximum age you’ve chosen.

In addition, Fabman Bridges send some maintenance information to us. This maintenance information is used to diagnose software or hardware errors and improve the reliability of Fabman Services. This information includes:

  • When the Bridge has been turned on or rebooted.
  • The software version that’s installed on the Bridge.
  • Any software exceptions that occur during operation (e.g., if the Bridge software crashes unexpectedly).
  • General information about network errors that occur during operation (e.g., when the Bridge can’t reach our servers due to technical problems).

Server logs

Whenever you use Fabman Services, we store some amount of data such as your IP address, date, and time in our server logs. This data is required to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, abuse, violations of our Terms of Service, or as otherwise required by law.

3. Cookies

When you use our Services, Fabman uses cookies to keep you signed in and store some of your settings. A cookie is a small text file that uniquely identifies your browser. Fabman uses secure, encrypted cookies for authentication. Most Internet browsers automatically accept cookies. You can adjust your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, you may not be able to use most Fabman Services when cookies are disabled.

4. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the security of your personal information against loss, misuse, and unlawful behavior.

All data in transit to and from our servers is encrypted using modern standards. All data to and from your browser is sent using HTTPS. All passwords are encrypted upon arrival and never stored in clear form. The database backups and all server backups are also encrypted. Data isn’t encrypted while it’s live in our database (since it needs to be ready to send to you when you need it). Any server log files we keep are encrypted after two days.

5. Where’s your data stored and when is it shared with others?

All data you submit to us is stored on servers in Germany, within the European Union, and not forwarded to any other parties except in the limited circumstances described here:

  • To provide products or services you’ve requested, with your permission. For example, when you want to collect payments from your members, we’ll share the required information with the payment processor you’ve selected.
  • Service providers: We work with certain trusted third parties to be able to perform our services. We may share some personal information with these third parties, but only to the extent necessary to carry out the Fabman Services, and only within the obligations and protections of this privacy policy. See the list of subprocessors for details.
  • Law and safety: We may release personal information if we are required by law, regulation, or legal request, to protect the safety of any person, to address fraud, security, or technical issues, to protect the rights, property, or personal safety of Fabman, our users or others.
  • Sale or merger: If Fabman is involved in a merger, acquisition, or any form of sale of some or all of its asset—we don’t plan on that, but if it happens—we’ll notify you well before any info about you is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

6. How long do we store information?

How long we store information depends on the kind of information:

  • We store your account information until you delete your account. When you delete your account, all information stored about you, your members, or your equipment is deleted from our servers.
  • We store your members’ information until you delete a member or delete your account.
  • As a customer, you can specify in your account settings how long we’ll store equipment activity logs and booking information. Any information older then the specified duration is automatically deleted.
  • Any maintenance information sent by Fabman Bridges is stored for at most 2 months before it’s automatically deleted. If you delete any equipment from you Fabman account, all related Bridge data is automatically deleted as well.
  • Server logs are encrypted after two days and automatically deleted after 60 days.

Whenever any data is deleted (e.g., when you delete your account or delete a member), it may still be contained in our encrypted server backups. Server backups and database backups are deleted after at most 2 months.

7. Age limitations

Fabman doesn’t allow anyone younger than 16 years old to use our Services without explicit parental consent. If you learn that anyone younger than 16 has unlawfully provided us with personal data, please contact us and we’ll take steps to delete such information.
